Here’s a beautifully-rendered school segregation story showing how poorly racially isolated elementary schools in part of Pinellas County have fared since the County abandoned its integration efforts.

Click the link and scroll or click down to watch it all unfold over time.

In a perfect world, there’d be a slow-motion GIF or movie version of the slide show — and I haven’t vetted the reporting for accuracy or completeness — but it’s hard to argue with the stunning presentation.

This slide, showing how a small set of five schools became racially segregated over seven years (and also lower-performing) is the one that jumped out at me the most:

Produced by the Tampa Bay Times’ Nathaniel Lash, this is a nice compliment to other segregation-focused stories written or produced recently by Nikole Hannah-Jones, This American Life, Kyle Spencer, and others.
