Ms Kundu’s praise of Baltimore’s efforts to make sure that their students’ food needs are met can guide other districts and major cities to consider enacting similar policies.
I live in Cincinnati, where children are impacted by poverty and hunger. Tony Fairhead, of Childhood Food Solutions, has targeted specific neighborhoods, where there is considerable poverty and they are food deserts, so these youngsters can go home with food over the weekend and vacation intervals. This can serve as an additional model. Without the support of the business community and foundations’ generosity, Childhood Food Solutions can not exist or grow to expand to other neighborhoods.
